This brand new, state-of-the-art aquatic and indoor recreation & leisure venue will be the largest of its kind in New Zealand. The complex will be well equipped to host local, national and international events.
CPB Contractors are the main contractor. Construction is being managed by Ōtākaro Limited, and jointly funded by the Crown and the Christchurch City Council, with the Council being the operator of the facility after completion.
SOPREMA, and its distributor Equus Industries Ltd, provided technical support during the design stage to develop a roofing system that deals with all the challenges faced when creating an indoor swimming pool in a colder climate such as Christchurch.
Architects Warren and Mahoney designed the warm roof concept using the SOPREMA DuOtherm insulated waterproofing system on a substrate of insulated sandwich panels to provide a durable thermal and waterproof protection layer.
The building is also well protected at its foundation by means of the DeboFlex Special below-ground waterproofing system by SOPREMA. The tanking membranes were installed by Certified Applicator H2Off Ltd.
The project is currently still under construction, with expected completion in 2022. The Equus SOPREMA DuOtherm system is installed by Certified Applicators Application Specialists Ltd. The drone images the size of the project and some of the DuO grey-white cap sheet and black base sheet membranes.
